Welcome to my blog! This site will regularly post important information for home owners, renters, buyers, and sellers. Feel free to comment or simply read and be informed!
As of April 2, 2007, all homeowners in Whatcom County with on-site septic systems will be required to have their system inspected annually, or once every three years if theirs is a gravitational system. The required inspection must be completed by a Whatcom County Certified Inspector based on the county's standards found on their "Report of System Status" form.
Prior to the sale of any property with a septic system, this report must be on file with the Whatcom County Health Department, and must be provided to the prospective buyer in advance of completion of the sale.

Where can I find out more? I have a septice system and I'm planning on selling my house this spring.
Thanks for asking. The Whatcom County Health Department website has more information about the requirements related to on-site septic systems and lists of licensed septic systems professionals. Feel free to go to their site for details.
May I suggest that you consider not waiting until spring to put your home on the market. Here's why: most people think that the best time to sell is in the late spring or summer, beginning in April or May. However, sellers are more likely to receive an offer closer to their asking price when there are fewer homes on the market. Each of the homes in your price range represent competition! Avoid it by getting on the market sooner! If you have any other questions, feel free to call or email me.
